How to type in Japanese using romaji input. Once you've installed an IME, you can type Japanese directly with romaji. The video also covers kanji conversion, long vowels, and more.
1) To type Japanese on a computer, first install a Japanese IME.
2) After installing, switch the language bar from EN (English) or CH (Chinese) to JP (Japanese).
3) Change the input mode from "Direct Input" to "Hiragana" (shortcut: Alt + ~).
4) Then type by the kana pronunciation. For example, 「こんにちは」 can be typed as "konnichiha".
5) After typing, an underline appears under the text. If it looks correct, press Enter to confirm.
6) To convert to katakana or kanji, press the Space bar while the underline is showing and choose from the options.
7) For katakana long vowels, use the "-" key above the P key.
8) For a small tsu (sokuon), e.g. 「きって」, type "kitte"—double the consonant after the sokuon and it will appear.
